When you use light gauge steel frame walls, you can enhance the life and performance using single or multiple layers of wallboard. Plasterboards and MgO boards have similar structural functions, but they vary slightly for different field parameters. The main advantages come to light when the boards are used in situations where there is fire. Tolerate flooding – The surface moisture absorption of the MgO board is not more than 10%(after 24 hrs), which is sufficiently insignificant. The Gypsum board shows an absorption of 30% maximum while the plywood absorbs more than 40% of the moisture. This makes the MgO board moisture resistant. The surface hardness is 6 – 8 units, which make it hard enough to tolerate flooding. The bending strength also is sufficiently high.
